Many scholarships are available to incoming freshmen and current students at UMD. Some scholarships require that a student have financial need or meet certain criteria; others are based upon demonstrated talents or abilities. Most of the scholarships for incoming freshmen can be applied for with the general UMD Scholarship Application, available from the UMD Office of Admissions.

The departments of Music, Theatre and Art & Design have some additional scholarships to offer to returning students. Application information for these scholarships is distributed to eligible students each spring, and those awarded a scholarship will receive it during the following academic year.
