Thinking of returning?
We hope your time away was beneficial, growing, and well spent. Depending on your situation or level of interest in returning, please see the following.
- ONLINE -- If you are not in the Twin Ports area, please know CAHSS currently offers only one completely online program (TAG degree requirements ). The majority of our degrees are delivered in-person. Your ability to complete a degree while living elsewhere may not be possible.
- HOLDS -- If you have any holds that prevent registration (owe money, missing transcripts, or other), these holds need to resolved prior to your record being reviewed for potential re-enrollment.
- TIMELINES:
- Fall term readmissions begin early March (Registration is in early April.)
- Spring term readmissions begin late September/early October (Registration is in early November.)
- Summer term readmissions begin early February (Registration is in early March.)
- Non-degree/guest registration -- For folks who are not pursuing a degree and want to take some courses.
- University for Seniors program -- For folks who want to join other seniors and learn about a variety of topics. Check out the program and cost for the details!

- Transcripts: If you attended somewhere else outside the U of MN system, you will need to submit a request/order to have those transcripts sent to UMD.
- Transferology - database illustrates how courses transfer to UMD.
- Previously applied for your degree. You will probably need to file the Change in Expected Grad Term form to change when your diploma will be completed/posted.
To return to active status and be able to register for classes you must submit this form: Readmission/Return From Leave of Absence Request form.
To have the ability to enroll in courses offered at other U of MN campuses, review the Multi-Institutional status and application.
- Once processed, you will receive an email message from the Office of the Registrar regarding your next steps. (i.e. updating your address, name, etc.)
- Requests must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the start of term to allow staff time to review your record, process forms, and advise you. As the term nears, the course selection becomes more difficult.
