Tribal Administration Handbook

The Tribal Sovereignty Institute (TSI), within the Department of American Indian Studies at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, received a grant from the Bush Foundation to (1) create a tribal administration handbook for use by American Indian tribes across the country and (2) develop journal articles on subjects that will support tribal management capabilities.

Tribal nations represent the oldest existing governments in North America, yet no such handbook has ever existed, and only nominal scholarly publishing on this subject matter has occurred. The time is overdue, the demand is present, and the expertise is available to make this advancement, which is critical to ensuring continued evolution in tribal governance.
