Department gift giving opportunities

If you wish to make a donation to the department, there are several opportunities from which to choose. Below are details about each available scholarship.

If desired, you can make a donation on the UMN's Make A Gift website. When the Development Homepage appears, click on Make a Gift, and then on Online giving. You will be redirected to the University’s secure Online Giving site for your personal and credit card information. Simply fill out the information requested, choosing “other” when prompted for which program you would like to contribute and then specifying the program or scholarship/award of your choice.

The UMD Gerhard E. von Glahn ScholarshipScholarship awarded to the Political Science sophomore with the best overall GPA.
The UMD Julius F. Wolff ScholarshipScholarship awarded to the Political Science junior with the best overall GPA.
The UMD Francis H. de Groat AwardAward made to the graduating Political Science Honors student with the best GPA in Political Science courses.
The UMD M. Harry Lease Jr. AwardTwo awards are granted annually: one given to the best student in a constitutional law course who has financial need; a second given to a student with a GPA of 3.0 or better who has financial need and showed improvement from the first test of the semester in the constitutional law course.
The UMD Diane & Calvin Rudolph Family ScholarshipScholarships awarded to undergraduate students with need who are studying pre-law or have the potential to be accepted into law school.
The UMD Michael and Carol Berman Mock Trial FundFunding to assist in offsetting expenses of the UMD mock trial teams.
The UMD Gerald & Eleanor Heaney ScholarshipScholarships awarded to undergraduate pre-law students with merit.
The UMD Sally B. & James E. Jernberg Scholarship (NEW for 2008-09)Scholarships awarded to undergraduate political science students with financial need, demonstrated academic and campus leadership.
The UMD Michael S. and Carol Berman Scholarship (NEW for 2008-09)Scholarships awarded to undergraduate political science students with financial need, demonstrated academic and campus leadership.
The UMD Gerald Heaney ScholarshipThis scholarship will be used to provide assistance for a student on the UMD Mock Trial debate team to ensure continued success in the mock trial competition.
The UMD M. Harry Lease Jr. Scholarship in Political ScienceRecipients of this scholarship will be political science majors, show promise in this field, and may not have been previously recognized due to previous performance or poor academic record.
The UMD The Craig Grau John Kress Student Support Fund in Political ScienceTo support all activities of Political Science students, especially those that promote enrichment related activities that would not otherwise be possible. Including but not limited to travel to conferences, research opportunities, and department related social events.
The UMD Alta Marie Oben ScholarshipThis scholarship will provide payments to full-time undergraduate students in the collegiate unit according to the following guidelines: Preference will be given to students majoring in political science or international relations, a plus factor will be given to female students, if that class is under represented at the time of the award, students must demonstrate financial need and high academic achievement.
The Arnie Ranta ScholarshipStudent Scholarship selection criteria. Enrolled full-time, good academic standing, and majoring or minoring in Political Science or History. Preference will be given to students from Northern Minnesota.
The UMD Jerry and Carolyn Zanko Scholarship Full-time, undergraduate student majoring in Political Science; Demonstrated financial need and academic merit. Preference will be given to a student who is a first-generation college student.
The UMD Wolff Memorial ScholarshipFull-time, undergraduate student majoring in Political Science; 3.0 minimum GPA; demonstrated financial need
The UMD Roland and Evelyn Theisen ScholarshipFull-time, undergraduate student majoring in Political Science; 3.0 minimum GPA; demonstrated financial need
