Visual Culture Lecture Series Heidi Jensen

Heidi Jensen will be presenting at UMD on March 24 about her working exploring biology, narratives and function. 

Heidi Jensen is an Associate Professor of Art at Ball State University in Indiana. Her work explores modes of drawing and probes issues regarding biology, narrative and function. Recent exhibitions include "Drawing Now" with La Galerie Particuliere in Paris, France; "Alive! Commodity, Zombie, Avatar, Fetish" at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; and "Circus" at Gallery Project in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Ms. Jensen is a fellow of several residency programs, including La Napoule Foundation in France; the Millay Colony in Austerlitz, New York; and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. She received an MFA in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BFA in Drawing and Painting from the University of Minnesota at Duluth. Her drawings have been published in Eleven Eleven Journal, a biannual journal of literature and art published by the California College of the Arts, and in Manifest Gallery's International Drawing Annual.
