ELWS Faculty share insights into "shared televisual universes"

In January 2023, Writing & Medieval Studies professor Lisa Horton, Rhetoric & Writing professor David Beard, and Philosophy professor Jason Ford joined Clare Ford, Aaron Propes, and Peter Soulen at the science fiction convention Console Room.
There, the six collaborators shared insights from their recently published book chapter, "From Television to Videotape and Back Again" in the anthology Televisual Shared Universes: Expanded and Converged Storyworlds on the Small Screen.  Therein, they talk about how the TV show Doctor Who grew by leaps and bounds because of the unique ways that the BBC awarded ownership of the characters created in the show.
 
As ChatGPT and AI change how we create, studies like these, of intellectual property and creativity, are even more important.
