The Trial of Märet Jonsdotter is a critical, contemplative examination of the trial which ignited the Mora Witch Trials and, in turn, the Swedish Witch Trials of the late 17th century–also known as Det Stora Oväsendet, or The Great Noise. Examining the complex dynamics of the situation from the perspectives of different individuals involved, each piece is set at particular stages of the event. While each drawing features specific information and explores ideas referring to the the historic trial of Märet Jonsdotter in Dalarna, Sweden, the imagery is exceptionally universal and the readable themes timeless.

The Trial of Märet Jonsdotter is a series of minimalist, mixed-media drawings. This series combines traditional and non-traditional drawing media: graphite, silver point, India ink, horse hoof glue, raw mohair, and collage with Japanese natural fiber papers.

The Trial of Märet Jonsdotter is the first installment of a larger, likely life-long body of work entitled "The Thousand Year Conversation" which traces the theoretical history witnessed and experienced by my ancestors over the last millennium--from the Viking Age, through Christianization and the Plague, industrialization, to emigration and settlement in North America.
