UMD students, faculty, staff and alumni recently presented at Minnesota Writing and English [MNWE] a Minnesota Conference on Writing and English in April at North Hennepin Community College in Minneapolis.
Presentations included:
“ESTABLISHING A LIMINAL UNDERSTANDING OF WRITING PEDAGOGY: THE IMPORTANCE OF WRITING STUDIES THRESHOLD CONCEPTS IN SECONDARY EDUCATION ENGLISH PROGRAMS” Courtney Salmela, Graduate Student in English, University of Minnesota Duluth.
“USING POPULAR CULTURE IN VISUAL TEXTS TO AID ACADEMIC ADJUSTMENT OF ESL COLLEGE STUDENTS IN FIRST-YEAR WRITING COURSES” Anna Gavrilova, University of Minnesota Duluth and Jessica Jongquist-Malyuk, University of Minnesota Duluth. Anna is a graduate of the Master of Liberal Studies [now Master of Professional Studies] program at UMD, while Jessica is a graduate of the MA in English. Both now work in writing instruction at UMD.
“DIGITAL EDITIONS IN THE CLASSROOM” by Brilynn Janckila of St. Cloud State University. Brilynn graduated from the undergraduate major in Writing Studies with an emphasis in Professional Writing before moving to study Rhetoric at St. Cloud State.
