The exhibition Architectural Art and the Process of Design presents many different aspects of the architectural design process; from preliminary sketches to finished design studies, to materials samples, models, and representations of completed projects. These examples of the architectural design process are gathered together in the exhibition in an effort to shed light on how the buildings we live with get from the architect’s office, into their final form.
The exhibition is organized around the six major aspects of the architectural design process:
1) Predesign
2) Programming
3) Schematic design
4) Design development
5) Construction documents
6) Construction administration.
The exhibition was developed as collaboration between the Tweed Museum of Art and the Northern Minnesota Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and is funded jointly by the AIA and the Tweed Museum of Art.
