I am a tenured associate professor of philosophy at the University of Minnesota Duluth. My research focuses on ethics, including virtue ethics and comparative ethics. I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame, where my dissertation was directed by Karl Ameriks & David Solomon. My B.A. in philosophy is from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I was also once a Philosophy Ph.D. student and co-authored scientific research articles at the Cystic Fibrosis Center. I was recently a fellow in residence at the Institute for Advanced Study in the Twin Cities at the University of Minnesota, where I was video interviewed about my research on virtue ethics and global poverty. I have also recently been a visiting scholar at the philosophy departments at the University of Melbourne and UNC-Chapel Hill.
