Here, you'll find audition announcements and important updates for the current and coming seasons.

Auditions for UMD Theatre productions are open to all UMD students, regardless of major. Whether you're a seasoned performer or new to the stage, we encourage you to get involved—onstage or behind the scenes!

UMD Theatre Mainstage Audition Notice: Everybody

The UMD Department of Theatre is holding open auditions for Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ Everybody, directed by guest artist Julie Ahasay.

Auditions: Tuesday, September 1 | 6:30 PM – 10:30 PM (Dudley Theatre, MPAC)

Callbacks: Thursday, September 3 | 6:30 PM – 10:30 PM (Dudley Theatre, MPAC)

Eligibility: Open to ALL current UMD students.

Preparation: Prepare a 60–90 second serio-comic monologue from a modern or contemporary published play (2-minute total audition block).

Stage 2 Theatre Company

Stage 2 Theatre Company is an entirely student-run theatre company based on the University of Minnesota—Duluth campus. We strive to create opportunities for all students on campus to interact with collaborative, student-led theatre. Check out their website for audition information!

Theatre Practicum Courses

All Theatre majors are required to complete the following Practicum courses successfully:
     TH 1399 Stagecraft Practicum
     TH 1499 Costume Construction Practicum
     TH 1599 Lighting/Sound Practicum
     TH 1699 Running Crew Practicum

Additionally, all BFA Theatre Majors are required to enroll in a Theatre Practicum course each semester in which they are enrolled as full-time students. Please visit the Practicum Course Guide for details.

Students cast in a UMD Theatre production should enroll in either TH 1199 Acting Practicum or TH 3199 Acting Practicum II, depending on the size of the role.

Running Crew Practicum Sign-up

For directions to enroll in TH 1699 Running Crew Practicum, go to our Theatre Design & Production and Stage Management Resource site.

Students with prior experience may be eligible to enroll in TH 2399 Production Practicum II, TH 3399 Production Practicum III, TH 3699 Production Management, or TH 4399 Theatre: Special Projects. Check with your academic advisor for details.
