Learning Outcomes
The Department of Philosophy is committed to pursuing seven primary learning outcomes in its instruction of students. Those outcomes are:
- Demonstrate competence and literacy in the core problems of Philosophy and its traditions.
- Demonstrate advanced written communication and information literacy skills especially as it concerns philosophical issues.
- Demonstrate advanced verbal communication and information literacy skills especially as it concerns philosophical issues.
- Think critically and creatively in seeking solutions to practical and theoretical problems.
- Reflect fair-mindedly and critically about issues pertaining to human diversity in the context of its historical background.
- Bring analytical and critical thinking skills to the solution of social problems.
- Use ethical reasoning to make informed and principled choices.
