Lyric soprano, Lora Gauthier Dixon, is an Instructor of Voice and director of the Opera Studio at University of Minnesota Duluth. Ms. Dixon has enjoyed performing a wide variety of solo, chamber, opera, and ensemble music throughout her career. She has performed the operatic roles of Mimí in La Bohème, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Blanche in Dialogs of the Carmelites, and Miss Jessel in The Turn of the Screw. Ms. Dixon has been a featured gala soloist with Palm Beach Opera, and was a finalist in the Dallas Opera Guild and the Denver Lyric Opera Guild competitions. Her oratorio and concert performances include Brahms’ Requiem, Mozart Requiem, and Fauré Requiem, as well as Handel’s Messiah.

Ms. Dixon earned her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of North Texas, where she was a Teaching Fellow. She progressed to post-graduate studies in Vocal Pedagogy at the University of Colorado Boulder where she was a member of the Graduate Teacher program and recipient of the Berton Coffin award. She later went on to become a student of renowned pedagogue Shirlee Emmons.

Ms. Dixon’s former university and private students have won performance-based scholarships in prestigious music programs such as Vanderbilt University, University of Southern California, and Eastman School of Music. She is passionate about helping each student find their healthiest vocal production and attain creative freedom in performing.
