What’s your major?

    Communication / Minor in Photography

Where are you studying?

      National University of Ireland, Galway

How long will you be abroad?

      5 months

What type of courses are you taking?

Nothing too specific. I decided to take courses that interest me but something that I necessarily wouldn't pursue a degree and career for. The courses I am taking here include some Psychology courses, Media and Culture courses, and Celtic Mythology courses.

What is your favorite memory from your study abroad experience?

My favorite study abroad experience hasn't been defined by a single moment, but rather a favorite way to relax and pass some time. This time of relaxation has been the live music that is around every corner in Europe. The music really shapes the environment here; it is what I will miss most!

What would you say to someone considering studying abroad?

There will always be "x" amount of reasons to not make it abroad. It is cliché to say that there is no better time to study abroad than your years in college, but it is so true. Get out and experience the World, you will not regret it! Europe is so beautiful and the amount you learn about yourself is priceless. Go, go, go!

What is/was your favorite local landmark?

My favorite local landmark is the beach in Galway Bay. I am OBSESSED with collecting beach glass. When I have some free time that is where you will find me! I have never seen so much vibrant beach glass before in my life; I am quite concerned how I will manage to get my Ireland collection home!

What are your living accommodations?

My living accommodations here is unique compared to what I have heard of others doing. I am living with a "host" Mother so to speak. She has been in Galway all her life and has raised her children in the house I am staying in now. It is a great way to experience the town from a local’s perspective!

What is your greatest challenge while being abroad?

The greatest challenge I have faced while being abroad would be missing out on memorable moments that are occurring without you at home. My sister was engaged over the holiday break before I left for Ireland. What I missed out on was the party where she asked her best friends to be her bridesmaids! On the other hand, I was asked to be the Maid of Honor over FaceTime; it's the little things you miss out on that make your heart ache just a little more than it should!

What skills have you acquired abroad?

I have become a pro at reading 24-hour time! ;)

What were questions you were asked by local residents?

What are your thoughts on Donald Trump? What is it like to be able to legally have a drink while not being 21? Is Minnesota near California?
