MMAD Lab

The Motion and Media Across Disciplines (MMAD) Lab at UMD is a cutting-edge resource supporting faculty and students in interdisciplinary research, classes, and creative projects. The lab features a motion capture system and a high-definition video production studio equipped with multiple cameras, a green screen cyclorama, studio lighting, and a sound booth. The MMAD Lab facilitates innovative work across diverse fields such as the arts, journalism, exercise science, mechanical engineering, and computer science, enabling projects in ergonomic design, gait analysis, 360-degree video, and virtual reality, making it a hub for advanced media and motion technology exploration on campus.

Climate Storytelling Grant

Tackling the climate crisis starts with open, regular community conversations about climate change. The MMAD Lab offers an educational and artistic forum for individuals, students, and communities to explore their personal experiences and emotions related to climate change. Learn more

From the Bus Hub:

Walk straight and take the first stairwell to the right onto the Red Concourse.
Turn left and walk until you come to your first intersection.
Turn right and take your first left down the stairs.
Travel through the Ven Den and the MMAD LAB (Bohannon Hall 24) will be on your left.

From Ordean Court:

Walk straight ahead toward the Ven Den Lounge.
MMAD LAB (Bohannon Hall 24) will be on your right.
