Introducing Dr. Neeraj Rajasekar

UMD's Department of Studies in Justice, Culture, & Social Change Welcomes Sociologist Dr. Neeraj Rajesekar

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Neeraj Rajasekar to the Department of Studies in Justice, Culture, & Social Change! Neeraj recently completed his PhD in Sociology from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. While at UMTC, Neeraj served as Special Projects Coordinator of The Society Pages -- an open-access social science project headquartered in UMTC’s Department of Sociology. This link highlights the focus of much of his research – in particular, the study of “diversity” discourse in the USA, based on historical analysis, survey data, and textual data. Neeraj has delivered several conference papers at sociological conferences and he currently has a number of manuscripts under review or in press.

Neeraj comes to UMD with a great breadth of teaching interests and experience, including introduction to sociology, social statistics, media sociology, political sociology, sociology of race, critical race theory, and discourse analysis. This fall he is teaching Introduction to Research Methods & Analysis, Sociology of Media, and Political Sociology and the Global Economy.

As a lifelong Minnesotan, Neeraj is used to seeing the Vikings disappoint him year after year, but #SKOL always and forever. In his free time, you can find Neeraj playing with his dog, watching cricket, and cooking something delicious.
