The film Reckonings chronicles the history of the first-ever reparations program designed to provide funds for individual survivors of genocide. Specifically, the film highlights the complicated and fraught discussions and deliberations between the West German government, the State of Israel, and the international Jewish community in the 1950s that culminated in the creation of the reparation program. Join the Baeumler-Kaplan Holocaust Commemoration Committee for a screening & discussion of Reckonings on Wednesday, February 1, at 6:00 PM in Solon Campus Center 120.
On February 23, the committee will host a follow-up event titled "Reckonings, Reparations, Restoration" not only for Jewish victims of the Holocaust but for African Americans and Native Americans as well.
