UMD Faculty Named Artistic Director of Twin Ports Choral Project

Congratulations to Dr. Ryan Deignan named Artistic Director of the Twin Ports Choral Project. 

 

Celebrating its 12th season, the Twin Ports Choral Project (https://www.twinportschoralproject.org) sings to inspire, engage, and educate audiences by sharing innovative and informed choral music performances in Northern Minnesota.

Twin Ports Choral Project has been invited to perform at Minnesota Public Radio’s 2014 and 2015 Harmony in the Park, at the 2015 American Choral Director's Association State Conference, and at the 2016 North Central American Choral Director's Association Regional Conference in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. TPCP was recently featured on Minnesota Public Radio's "Friday Favorites." In 2019-20, TPCP received regional press recognition for their performances of "Considering Matthew Shepard'' and patrons underwrote reprise performances which took place at the historic NorShore Theatre in downtown Duluth. 

Ryan Deignan is Assistant Professor and Associate Director of Choral Activities at the University of Minnesota Duluth where he conducts the UMD Concert Chorale, leads vocal jazz ensembles Lake Effect and Chill Factor, and teaches voice lessons, ear training, and vocal pedagogy. Deignan holds a BA in Vocal Performance from Luther College, an MA in Music Education from the University of Iowa and DMA in Choral Studies with a cognate field in Vocal Pedagogy from the University of North Texas. He is a member of ACDA, NAFME, NATS, JEN, and the Voice Foundation.
