Duluth Poets Laureate

A reading series celebrating creative verse

The public is invited to a three-part reading series honoring the Duluth Poets Laureate. The events will take place in the UMD Library on Oct 5, Oct 12, and Oct 19.   

This retrospective celebrates the Duluth Poet Laureate project. Each Poet Laureate (PL) will read from their own work. They have also selected a young poet to share the stage with them, to draw attention to the next generation of diverse and engaging poets. The event series includes:

October 5, 2022: Featuring Barton Sutter (2006-2008 PL) with Jayson Iwen, Deborah Cooper (2012-2014 PL) with Brianna Reynolds.October 12, 2022: Featuring Gary Boelhower (2018-2020 PL) with Julie Gard, Jim Johnson (2008-2010 PL) with Ryan Vine.

October 19, 2022: Featuring Sheila Packa (2010-2012 PL) with Dani Pieratos, Ellie Schoenfeld (2016-2018 PL) with Tina Higgins Wussow.

Additionally, poets from the Minnesota League of Poets and Duluth Poetry Chapter will be present to host the events. All events will be held in the Kathryn A. Martin Library (KAML) from 6 - 8 pm. The library address is 416 Library Dr, Duluth, MN 55812.
