Piano Ensemble Course Overview — Register for MU 1516/4516 PIANO ENSEMBLE
Course Description: The Piano Ensemble course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to collaborate in small groups, typically consisting of two or more pianists such as 4 hands, and 8 hands. However, this can be extended to collaborations with other instruments depending on students personal goals and their preferred repertoire. This course focuses on developing ensemble skills, enhancing musical interpretation, and fostering collaborative musicianship. Students will explore a diverse repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary works, including arrangements and original compositions for multiple pianos. The repertoire is not limited to classical works; it can include pop music, video game music, and more. ANY STUDENT at UMD with Intermediate to advanced piano proficiency and prior experience in solo performance and basic knowledge of music theory, can take the course after a brief interview and audition with Dr. Lee if they are a non-major.
