A graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth’s Jazz Studies program with a Masters degree in Music Performance, Mr. Cooper is a respected and sought after guitar instructor and performer in Duluth. 

He has taught guitar at the University of MN Duluth since 1999 and has performed and recorded professionally in the Duluth area since 1995. He has a worked with many bands including Dance Attic, Woodblind, The Fractals, Coop and the Kooks, the Polkarobics, Todd Eckart Band, The Marc Gartman Band, The Duluth Bigtime Jazz Orchestra, The Dukes of Hubbard, Clockwork Jazz, No Wait Wait and the band Father Hennepin who started the popular Duluth Homegrown Music Festival more than 20 years ago. 

Mr. Cooper is a versatile guitarist capable of teaching and performing in a wide variety of styles including rock, ska, reggae, fingerstyle, rockabilly, indie rock, classic rock, metal, blues, jazz, folk, and country.

In addition to teaching guitar at UMD and performing live, he started his own Twin Ports Guitar Studio in 2014 and has many years of experience in teaching and performing.Â
