Where was your internship placement?
Communications Intern at DehlerPR

Describe what you do at your internship. What do your day-to-day activities involve? What type of skills did you learn during your internship?
We work a lot with public sector organizations, mostly public school districts. I’ve gotten to help write proposals and newsletters, maintain client social media accounts, help build strategic communication plans, and more. I’ve developed many skills including organization, writing, and editing.

What was your most memorable experience?
After attending a team meeting in which we were dealing with a client crisis, the owner of the company took the time to have a one-on-one meeting to thoroughly explain to me a lot of the topics from the meeting before I needed to ask.

Has your internship influenced your career path?
This internship influenced me to major in communication! I got a wide variety of experiences including writing social media posts, newsletters, and brochures, but I also got some experience in the administration side by entering timesheets and utilizing Google Suites. All these experiences have helped me decide that this is what I want to do!

What advice would you offer to students about internships?
Ask questions no matter how silly they seem! The people you are working with are likely experienced and have the answers, they understand that you’re new to this. I've gotten answers to questions I didn't even realize I had through conversations with other employees.
