Band Camp is where we start to put together our music, drill and shows for the year. We will cover Pregame, Tailgate, the First Show (more if we have the time, and Stand Music.
During camp, we start with marching basics and slowly add music and drill as time goes on. We strive to be the very best we can be and will take the time to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Moving into On-Campus Housing
Students staying in on-campus housing will be able to move in ahead of the normal move-in days. Members of the drumline and the leadership team will move in Tuesday, 8/17, and all other members of the band will move in Thursday, 8/19. Band move-in windows are generally in the middle of the day between 1:00 and 4:30 pm. Students who have already indicated via the Intent To March Form that they will be staying in on-campus housing should be receiving confirmation and more details directly from the Housing office via email.
Students are encouraged to furnish their own instruments if possible, but may rent equipment from UMD for a refundable deposit and a nominal fee. Percussion instruments, sousaphones, marching baritones, and mellophones are rented out, but limited numbers of other instruments may be available upon request. Members of the drumline will be placed onto instruments in the initial rehearsals on Tuesday 8/17 and Wednesday 8/18.
Musicians are also expected to furnish their own flip folder, lyre (if needed), and marching shoes. Marching shoes should be matte/gloss black (not patent leather finish) without designs or patterns on them. Sneakers or dress shoes are not satisfactory uniform shoes. Examples of acceptable shoes include (but are not necessarily limited to) Dinkles, MTX, Vipers, and Drillmasters. Marching shoes should be in good condition but do not have to be in new condition.
